Job Summary

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician II will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control systems within the facility. Assisting with the installation and upgrade of electrical equipment. The Trademark Nitrogen facility is a 24-7 continuously operated chemical plant that produces nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, and other specialty chemicals. The position will be expected to work Monday-Friday, 07:00 AM to 04:00 PM, with an expectation to cover evenings and weekend callouts as needed. The ideal candidate will be willing to participate and be involved in a strong safety culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program and maintain all measuring devices: flow, temperature, pressure, pH, density, etc.
  • Maintain all electrical and instrumentation equipment in the facility including completing PM inspections and troubleshooting failed equipment.
  • Assist in the repair work performed by contractors when necessary.
  • Assist with all jobs required by the TradeMark Nitrogen Maintenance team.
  • Capable of sizing and installing new/replacement electrical conduit and wire.
  • Capable of installing, troubleshooting, and repairing control components, motor circuits, building and lighting circuits, and control circuits.
  • Capable of troubleshooting and servicing PLC systems.
  • Understand PSM/RMP Programs and be able to document repairs as required per PSM/RMP.
  • Promptly respond to after hour call outs when required.
  • Must have personal set of tools for tasks appropriate to the position.
  • Assist with all other maintenance projects and additional responsibilities that may be added per the company’s discretion.

Knowledge and Competency Requirements

  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills to troubleshoot complex problems with instrumentation and controls.
  • Proficient in reading electrical and instrument schematics, manuals, and P&IDs.
  • Proficient in the use of testing and calibration equipment for electrical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Must be proficient with computers and able to coordinate/respond via email.
  • Knowledgeable of NEC and OSHA standards.
  • Prioritize personal safety and the safety of coworkers, contractors, and the public above all else.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to self-direct work.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and take charge of tasks individually.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Instrument and electrical certification or trade school equivalent preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in industrial equipment and electrical repair required.
  • Significant experience with PLCs and control systems preferred.
