Electrical and Instrumentation Technician I

Trademark Nitrogen is a producer of high-quality Nitrogen based solutions primarily for use in the agricultural and manufacturing industries.

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting electrical equipment, process instrumentation, and control systems within the facility, and assisting with equipment installations and upgrades. TradeMark Nitrogen operates a 24-hour, seven-day-per-week chemical manufacturing facility that produces nitric acid, ammonium nitrate solutions, and specialty nitrate products. The facility also handles and processes ammonia. This position works around hazardous chemicals, pressurized systems, and continuous manufacturing operations, maintaining process instruments, safety alarms, and protective interlocks essential to safe and reliable plant operation. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with evening and weekend callouts as needed. The successful candidate will actively support a strong safety culture.

• Work along side other facility electricians to learn maintenance procedures and troubleshooting skills for maintaining all the electrical equipment at the facility.
• Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot process instrumentation, including thermocouples, RTDs, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters and switches, flow meters, level instruments, and pH and density measurement devices.
• Perform preventive maintenance, calibration checks, functional testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and instrumentation; maintain accurate maintenance and calibration records.
• Assist in the repair work performed by contractors when necessary.
• Assist with all jobs required by the TradeMark Nitrogen Maintenance team.
• Capable of sizing and installing new/replacement electrical conduit and wire.
• Capable of installing, troubleshooting, and repairing control components, motor circuits, building and lighting circuits, and control circuits.
• Troubleshoot PLC input/output signals, 4–20 mA instrument loops, control valves and positioners, process alarms, pressure switches, and associated interlocks; support PLC programming and controls upgrades as needed.
• Understand PSM/RMP Programs and be able to document repairs as required per PSM/RMP.
• Promptly respond to after hour call outs when required.
• Must have personal set of tools for tasks appropriate to the position.
• Assist with all other maintenance projects and additional responsibilities that may be added per the company’s discretion.

• Demonstrate practical diagnostic and calibration skills for industrial instruments, including temperature sensors, pressure switches, flow meters, alarm circuits, and process control loops.
• Must be proficient with computers and able to coordinate/respond via email.
• Capable of reading electrical and instrument schematics, manuals, and P&IDs.
• Proficient in the use of testing and calibration equipment for electrical equipment and instrumentation.
• Knowledgeable of NEC and OSHA standards.
• Must be able to safely climb fixed and portable ladders and work at elevated locations as an essential function of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as an essential function of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation; mechanical lifting aids and team lifts will be used when appropriate.
• Must be able to accurately distinguish electrical wiring, indicator lights, and safety signals, including color-coded components, using appropriate methods or reasonable accommodations where effective. Color vision deficiency does not automatically disqualify an applicant.
• Must be willing and able to work safely in a chemical manufacturing environment, follow established process safety procedures, and use required personal protective equipment, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

• Instrument and electrical certification or trade school equivalent a plus.
• Some experience with PLC systems and programming is a plus.
• Five years of relevant industrial electrical and instrumentation experience preferred as the baseline qualification; qualifying technical education may substitute for a portion of the five years.
• Relevant technical or trade school coursework, certificates, or degrees may be credited toward part of the experience requirement based on training content and demonstrated practical competence.
